Life is just too hectic these days and I keep putting off sitting down to update. It's so much easier to put a few lines up on Facebook to keep track of James's milestones! Soon I will have to suck it up and go through my Facebook to save all those little updates here. In the meantime, James just keeps growing.
His latest thing is to throw his hands up in the air when we ask "how big is James" and when his arms are straight up we answer "sooooooooo big!" he loves it. He also likes o roll his hands over and against each other, he's been doing that for about 4 or 5 months, but now he'll do it on command if we say "roll 'em" like in Patty Cake.
He pulls up on everything and cruises around, so everyone thinks he will walk early. He's a quick little crawler, though, so we'll see how motivated he is to change. He loves to babble at us, and blow raspberries. He drinks water from a cup if we hold it for him, and is getting pretty good using a sippy cup with a soft spout. He loves to eat solid food, and no one can eat around him unless they are willing to share! He has two teeth growing in the front bottom gum, but no others seem evident so far. He is also still nursing like a champ, although he isn't as fond of the bottle anymore. He prefers to get his milk from the source!
We call him James, of course, but also Duder, Toots Magoots, Tooty, Tooty Fresh, Poppin' Fresh, Duderbug, Duderpie, Buggy, Bugalito, Bugaboodle, Doodle, Jamesy, Jamesy-Wames, Mr. Wames, Tootsio Magootsio, Fitzbug, Supah Fitz, Sweetness, Sweetest, Sweet Boy, and a million other names.
I am back to work, so James now goes to his grandparent's during the week. Monday and Tuesday he spends with Grandpa Bill, and Wendesday, Thursday, Friday he is with G'ma and G'pops. The grands are eating it up, and spoiling him rotten! Luckily he seems to be adjusting well, although the naps are a bit of a crapshoot. I, however, hate being away from him so much and can't wait to find something part time as soon as Bill get's his shoulder fixed and we can afford to ditch my health benefits.
Words can't describe how much fun life is with this little guy!

James Takes a Stand
Last night while I was stuffing and folding James's cloth diaper in his room, he was busy scooting and crawling and hopping around. There was a full laundry basket on the floor that he was especially interested in. Before I knew it, he had pulled himself up and was standing and holding on to the edge of the basket! I called Bill in the room to see. It was so cute, he only had on a onesie so his we could see his little chubby legs wobble as he tried to stay up. We decided to put him in the crib and see if he would pull himself up in there, too. Sure enough, he used the bumper to pull himself all the way up to standing then stood there for a bit only holding on with one hand. Then he let go with the other hand... and fell straight back. We took pics and video, of course. He is just growing up tooooo fast.

Dear James (1/22/11)
As I write this, you are asleep on my lap. I can't believe it's been 7 and a half months since you were born! I had planned to keep this space as your online baby book, but real life got in the way. I will try to go back and fill in the details, and keep it more updated from now on.
At 7 months you are still the sweetest thing your dad and I can imagine. You are on the verge of crawling for real, you'll do a few real crawls and then go back to the belly flop and froghop routine. Between that and rolling, you get where you want to go! You are trying to figure out how to pull yourself up, but still flop over when you raise up one hand to grab the edge of the table, or couch, or exersaucer. It's really cute. You are about 15 pounds, and LOVE to bounce on us. You are teething, which is a real treat, and you'll chew on anything and everything because of it. Your hair has grown back in much lighter than when you were born, but still brown. You can still fit into your 3-6 month clothes but it's a squeeze, especially if you are wearing a cloth diaper. Object permanence and separation anxiety have kicked in, and you do not like to be alone. You prefer Mama and Daddy, but you are still a big nosy flirt, and love to try out new people. All the daycare teachers just love you, and I find someone new visiting you in the infant room every time I pick you up.
So far you are still nursing for almost all your meals. We just started you on solids a few weeks ago, so you get rice cereal once a day at daycare and a variety of real food at home. We let you play with big pieces of food, but also spoon feed you mashed up bananas, avocado, and squash.
You love to grab everything, including my glasses an earrings. Anything that makes a crinkly noise immediately grabs your attention. You like us to sing you to sleep, and you will also sometimes "sing" especially when you are sleepy in the car. You are a great little traveler an usually fall asleep right away. But you won't have as many long car rides soon, because we are moving next month to San Jose. I am sad to think you won't remember your first home, but you are going to have an amazing childhood growing up so close to both sets of grandparents and all our friends back home.
Your smile just lights up our world, and I hope you always know that.
Love,
Mama

Hello Belly.
One million weeks pregnant. Or 35 weeks and 3 days, but who's counting?
